Samuel
Ezekiel Madden, age 82 of Washington, passed away Friday, February 12, 2016 at
Sunset Estates Nursing Home in Purcell. He was born Feb. 9, 1934 in Washington,
OK the 11th child of 12 children born to Isaac Madden and Christina (Taylor)
Madden. Sam grew up a farm boy living in the Goldsby-Washington area and he
attended the Goldsby School. Sam learned how to work hard as a young man and he
continued that same work ethic throughout his life. He also passed down those
same hard working values into his children. Sam first worked for the University
of Oklahoma for many years before going to work for the City of Norman , where
he eventually retired from. Throughout his life, he enjoyed living in the
country, raising a vegetable garden, and cat fishing. In his later years he
enjoyed going to the Goldsby Store to drink coffee with his friends and playing
dominoes at Washington. While his children and grandchildren were growing up, he
enjoyed watching them play school sports. He will be remembered as a wonderful
husband, father and grandfather.
He was preceded in death by: Parents, Isaac and Christina Madden; All of his
brother and sisters including, Infant brother, Lewis Rex Madden, 3 adult
brothers, Levi, David and Amos Madden; 7 adult sisters, Stella Dover, Ester
Wade, Elsie Andrews, Gencie Andrews, Christine King, Rachael Hale and Louella
Kitchens; 2 grandchildren, Dallas Mayo and Alicia Madden;
He is survived by: Wife, Vera Madden of the home; 5 children, 2 sons, Roger
Madden and wife Barbara of Washington, Chad Madden and wife Stephanie of OKC, 3
daughters, Shelly Mayo and husband Greg of Goldsby, Holley Moore and husband
David of Washington, Stephanie Howard and husband Mark of Purcell; 10
grandchildren, ¬¬7 great grandchildren, Numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces
and nephews, and a many other relatives and friends.
Graveside Funeral Services will be 11:00 am Saturday, Feb. 13, 2016 at the
Washington Cemetery.
