Bertha
Nell Durso Johnson age 83 of Norman, passed away while surrounded by her family
on Sunday, April 17, 2016. She was born on December 18, 1932 in Norman,
Oklahoma. She was the 2nd child of five children born to Edgar J. Davis and
Gladys Deola (Manning) Davis. Bertha grew up in Norman and at age 15, her family
moved to California. While living in California she met and married Joseph Durso.
They were married on May 7, 1948 in AZ and together raised five children. Bertha
worked hard as a homemaker, wife and mother. Bertha also worked outside of the
home as a waitress to help provide for her family. They lived in CA for 34 years
before moving back to Norman, the place she called home. When she started
getting grandchildren she enjoyed being their babysitter. Bertha later remarried
Bill Johnson. For the past 11 years, because of her failing health, she had
lived with and been loving cared for by her children.
She was preceded in death by: Parents, Edgar and Gladys Davis, Two husband,
Joseph Durso and Bill Johnson; Three brothers, Calvin H. Davis, Boyd Davis and
Steve Davis;
She is survived by: Five children, Linda Buttell of Bakersfield, CA, Diane Word
and husband Sam of Searcy, AR, Joe Durso of Norman, Idona Durso of Reno, NV,
Phillip Durso of Lexington, OK; One brother, Robert Michael Davis and wife
Angela of OKC; 11 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, 3 great great
grandchildren, Several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be 10:00 am Saturday, April 23, 2016 at Wilson-Little
Funeral Home Chapel in Purcell. Interment will be at the Washington Cemetery in
