Dorotha Jean Folks, age 83 of Purcell, passed away Tuesday October 6, 2015.
Dorotha Jean Morris was born July 29, 1932 in McAlester, OK, to Millard Thomas Morris and Ella Marie (Davis) Morris. She attended school in McAlester and Lexington, graduating from Lexington High School in 1950. Dorotha married T. Buck Folks on July 29, 1950. They lived in Washington until 1962 when they moved to Purcell. Together they raised a son, Lloyd Dale and daughters, Patti and Karen. Dorotha worked at Tinker Field from 1960 through 1962. In 1966, she began working at the Purcell Public Library. She served as branch librarian from 1978 until she retired in 1988. She cherished her family and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Dorotha was an active member of the Washington Chapter #387, Order of the Eastern Star and a longtime and faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Purcell. She will be dearly missed.
She was preceded in death by: Her parents, Millard Thomas and Ella Marie Morris; Brother, Charles Morris; Sisters, Nita Wilson and Tommie Miller ; and Son-in-law, John Vanlandingham.
Dorotha leaves behind: Her husband, W.H. Folks of Purcell; Her Son, Lloyd Folks and wife Linda of Brazoria, TX; Daughters, Patti Vanlandingham of San Antonio, TX and Karen Horoho and husband Mike of Norman; Sisters, Mary Catherine Morris of Denver, CO and Elsie Lee Doerr of _Breckville, OH; Grandchildren, Jason Vanlandingham and wife Amanda, Zac Vanlandingham, Lloyd Dale Folks Jr and wife Marisol, Justin Folks, Grant Horoho and Philip Horoho, Craig Horoho, and Lindsay Horoho Charles. Great grandchildren, Caitlin Folks and Joaquin Folks, and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Friday, October 9, 2015, at the First Baptist Church in Purcell. Burial will follow at the Washington Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell. Memorial contributions may be made to the Purcell First Baptist Church or the Friends of the Purcell Library.
