Samantha Daye (Vaughn) Covey, 46 years old, passed away on February 15, 2023 in her home.
The daughter of Curtis Lee and Grace Laveda (Johnson) Vaughn, Sammy was born in Oklahoma City on October 26, 1976.
Sammy grew up in the Dibble area, but moved to Burns Flat for a while and graduated high school from there. As an adult she lived mostly in the Norman Purcell area. Sammy had worked in retail stores as a clerk at Walmart and Woody’s Chapel Store. She was in the process of applying to go to school to work as a counselor as a sexual assault nurse examiner. Sammy was a very good listener and loved giving out compliments. She always had positive affirmation to give to people. She enjoyed mailing cards of encouragement. Sammy loved music, and animals of all kinds, but especially her two cats, Tiny and Starr. She was a whiz on the computer and you never ever saw her that she did not have a Dr. Pepper in hand or close by. Sammy always identified herself as the favorite, whether it was the favorite sister, favorite aunt or favorite whatever your relationship was with her. But most of all, Sammy loved her children and grandchildren.
Sammy was preceded in death by her father, Curtis Lee Vaughn; sister, Cynthia Vaughn; and brothers, Joe Vaughn and Lee Robert Vaughn.
Sammy is survived by her mother, Grace Vaughn; two daughters, Nicole Prather and, spouse Anthony Hernandez of Purcell and Vil Cargo of Eufaula; two sons, Robert Richardson and Oliver Covey both of Norman; two grandchildren, Bella Page and Channing Curd; siblings, Glenda Peck and husband Mitchell of Blanchard, Julie Coker and husband Mike of Henrietta, Texas, Donna Vaughn of Choctaw, Wyman Knight and husband Larry of Blanchard, Debbie Love (who took special care of Sammy in the last year) and husband Richard of Midwest City, and Jeff Peck and wife Marla of Minco; favorite aunt to nieces, Cara, Nanci, and Amber; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and other loving family members and friends.
