Henry Morgan Cooley, 82, of Blanchard, died Monday, August 28, 2017, at his home. The son of Ples Morgan Cooley, Jr. and Betty Elizabeth (Canary) Cooley, he was born March 24, 1935, in Tuttle, Oklahoma.
Henry was raised on a dairy farm in Tuttle and attended Tuttle Schools, graduating in 1954. He married Modena Lovelace on November 13, 1954 in Tuttle. Henry worked for Scrivner, Inc. for 43 years and then Fleming Foods for 3 years before retiring. He continued to work on his farm until his health no longer allowed. He was a member of Union Hill Baptist Church in Purcell where he served as a deacon. Henry served on the Blanchard School Board for 15 years and was instrumental in making improvements to several school facilities. He was also very involved with the All-Sports Association, 4-H and the FFA.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Paul Cooley and Ples Morgan Cooley, III; and a sister, Ellie Oliver.
Henry is survived by his wife, Modena Cooley of Blanchard; two daughters, Liz Cooley of Blanchard, and Cindy Conner and her husband, Arnold, of Lexington; two sons, Ricky Cooley and Rodney Cooley, both of Blanchard; seven grandchildren, Caleb, Jason, Kristi and husband, Kevin, Meranda and husband, Brian, Jusdena, Kaitlen, and Kendra; eight great grandchildren and one more on the way; three sisters, Mary Cooley of Norman, Betty Jean Cummins of Oklahoma City, and Lela French and her husband, John, of Moore; two brothers, Hoss Cooley and his wife, Ruth, of Piedmont, and Skip Cooley of Bethany; several nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, September 1, 2017, at Union Hill Baptist Church in Purcell.
Interment will follow in the Washington Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the Union Hill Baptist Church Building Fund. Arrangements are under the direction of Eisenhour Funeral Home of Blanchard.
