Virginia “Ginger” Ruth Carlton age 63 of Goldsby, passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at her home following a lengthy battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease). She was born May 11, 1952 in Norman, Oklahoma. She was the youngest of three children born to Jimmie James Marsee and Peggy LaRue (White) Marsee. Ginger grew up in the Goldsby-Washington communities and attended Washington schools. While in high school she was a standout basketball player. After graduating from Washington High School with the class of 1970 she attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford, OK to study pharmacology. She later transferred to the University of Oklahoma where she graduated with her degree in pharmacology. On June 28, 1975, Ginger married the love of her life, Damon E. Carlton. They were married in Washington and made their home in the Goldsby community. Ginger and Damon together raised two sons, Damon James and Jacob Daniel. After becoming a pharmacist, she worked for different pharmacies in the Purcell area. She worked for Turner Drug, William’s Pharmacy, Don’s Pharmacy, then returned and retired from Turner Drug. She loved helping people and enjoyed making friends. Ginger was a faithful Christian and attended FBC Washington most of her life. In her younger years she was a sponsor and cook for her church at Falls Creek Youth Camp. She was also very active in the children’s ministries at FBC Washington. She was a past member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Ginger loved being outdoors and being close to nature. She and her family enjoyed camping, hiking and going on vacations together. In her later years she enjoyed spending time on the internet and making new friends on social media. She loved her family; her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy.

She was preceded in death by: Parents, Jimmie and Peggy Marsee;

She is survived by: Husband, Damon E. Carlton of the home; Two sons, Damon James Carlton and wife Cindy of Goldsby, Jacob Daniel Carlton and wife Laurn of Greenville, TX. One sister, Becky Andrews and husband Bill of Goldsby, One brother, Bobby Joe Marsee and wife Carolyn of OKC, Seven grandchildren, Steven, Daniel, Benjamin, Nathan, Avery, Henry and Lucy; Several nieces, nephews, cousins And her schnauzer, Katie;

Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Monday, June 29, 2015 at First Baptist Church in Washington, OK. Interment will be at the Washington Cemetery. You may send memorials to ALSA.org. Arrangements are by Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell.
