James Barnes, age 53 of Newcastle, OK passed away Thursday February 20, 2014 in OKC. James Leo Barnes was born January 5, 1961 in Oklahoma City. His parents were James Martin Barnes and Barbara Luella (Maxey) Barnes. From kindergarten to third grade Jim went to Windsor Hills Elementary in Putnam City. He then moved to Scottsdale, AZ and from fourth to the tenth grade he attended Pueblo Elementary and Saguaro High School. Jim returned back to Harrah, OK to finish High School where he graduated with the class of 1979. Jim worked for his father's trucking company in high school and would drive an old blue cab-over semi to school. After school he would then haul rock. He married Amy McLaren in 1982, and together they raised 2 sons, Luke and Jake. Jim spent countless hours on the road, and for several years, he owned and operated Barnes Rock & Construction. After trucking he went into plumbing and went to school for heating and air. However truck driving was in his blood and soon returned to the family trucking company. Jim was an avid sports fan. He loved watching OU Football games and never missed the Dallas Cowboys play. Jim loved classic rock and roll and attended many concerts throughout the years. He sure loved to watch cartoons with his grandkids they were the apple to his eye. Jim also had a deep love for fast cars and hot rods. Jim will be greatly missed!
He was preceded in death by: His father: Jim “Pile Driver” Barnes, His sister: Becky Barnes Riemenschneider, 2 nephews: Sunny Barrett and Justin Barnes.
James leaves behind: His mother: Barbara Barnes of Newcastle, His sons: Luke Barnes and fiancé April Davidson, of Newcastle, Jake Barnes and wife Samantha of Harrah, 2 brothers: Martin Barnes of Arizona, Steve Barnes of Oklahoma City, 2 sisters: Bonnie Barrett and husband Larry of Spicewood, TX, Cindy Barnes of Oklahoma City, 4 grandchildren: Seth, Mason, Riley and Braxton, Several nieces and nephews, cousins, and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at the Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel in Purcell. Burial will follow at the Washington Cemetery in Washington, OK. Arrangements are by Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell, OK.
