Helen Estell Anderson age 95 of Gun Barrel City, Texas passed away Wednesday, October 1, 2014 in Texas. Helen was born April 25, 1919 in Byars, OK. She was the 2nd child of five children born to Edward Dudley Allen and Maudie Mae (Vier) Allen. Helen grew up a country girl living in the Byars community. At the age of 20 she married William “Bill” Cantrell. They made their home in Norman, OK and together raised three children, Jerry, LaDonna and Linda. After her children were grown, Helen later moved to Texas and married Willard Anderson in 1972. They made their home in East Texas living on a Lake near Uncertain, Texas. Throughout her life she enjoyed sewing and crocheting. She also liked listening to music, playing the guitar and the electric keyboard. In her later years she enjoyed the art of basket weaving. Helen will be remembered as a wonderful mother, grandmother and great and gt-gt grandmother.
She was preceded in death by: Her Parents; Two husbands; One infant sister; Three brothers, Jimmy, Vernis and Tommy Allen; A son, Jerry Cantrell in 1997; Two great-great grandchildren, Landyn and Raylee Dowling.
She is survived by: Two daughters, LaDonna Mae Davis and husband Andy of Gun Barrel City, TX Linda K. Brehm and husband Danny of Cleburne, TX Six grandchildren, Dana Valderas and husband Michael of Gun Barrel City, TX Ron Daniels and wife Cathy of Arlington, TX Robbin Daniels of Los Colinas, TX Larry Cantrell of OKC Steven Cantrell and wife Angie of McKinney, TX Will Bannister and wife Kate of Ft. Mill, SC; 10 great grandchildren, 3 great great grandchildren Several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
A family gathering will be held at 1:00 pm Monday, Oct. 6, 2104 at Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell. Interment will be at New Johnsonville Cemetery in Byars, OK.
