Muriel Delores Mayfield, 81, of Blanchard, died July 5, 2006, at the Kindred Hospital in Oklahoma City.
Services were at 2 p.m., Saturday, July 8 at Midway Baptist Church in Dibble. The Rev. Lewis Cox officiated and burial was in the Washington Cemetery. Eisenhour Funeral Home, Blanchard, made the arrangements. Muriel was born Aug. 18, 1924, in Cole, Okla., to Arrie Ethel (Maddon) and Grover C. Andrews. She attended grade school at Buffalo School and then transferred to Blanchard. On Dec. 9, 1939, she married Frank Whitlock Mayfield and to this union were born two children, Frank Jerry Mayfield and Carolyn Delores (Mayfield) Hill. Muriel lived in the Blanchard area all her life. She attended and taught the young people's Sunday school class at Cole Missionary Baptist Church until it disbanded. The church house was then moved to the present sight of Midway Baptist in Dibble where she continued being a member until her death. She enjoyed telling stories, writing, crafts, gardening, and cooking. Muriel's greatest enjoyment in life was her children and grandchildren. Survivors of Muriel are her son, Frank Jerry and wife, Sue (Bowling) Mayfield, of Dibble and her daughter, Carolyn (Mayfield) Hill, of Dibble. Also surviving her were grandchildren Jenny (Mayfield) and husband, Mark Howe, Frank Jerry Mayfield II and wife, Jessica, Jeff Hill and wife, Wendy, and Josh Mayfield; great grandchildren include Chisolm and Sage Perry, Ashley Willis, Jordan Birchum, Hunter and Holden Mayfield, Kyle and Zac Howe, and Kalon Melton; sister-in-law, Velma Faye Webster and husband John and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, two brothers, two sisters and a son-in-law. |
