Travis H. Jolly, 88, died Saturday, July 5, 2006 in Chickasha.
Services were held at 10 a.m., at the First Baptist Church of Minco. The Rev. Bob Denny of Oklahoma City officiated and burial was at Evergreen Cemetery in Minco. Arrangements were made under the direction of Huber-Reynolds Funeral Home of Minco. Jolly was born November 6, 1917 in Lawton to Jesse and Gladys (Davis) Jolly. Travis lived in and around the Minco community all of his life. After graduating high school, he joined the military and served in the United States Navy during World War II on the destroyer U.S.S. Bancroft. On July 30, 1935, Travis married Thelma Johnson in Anadarko. They would have been married 71 years. Travis owned and operated a farm and a dairy until his retirement. He was also a member of the First Baptist Church of Minco, where he served as a Deacon and a Sunday school teacher. Jolly is survived by his wife, Thelma of the home in Minco; one son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Dianna Jolly of Las Vegas, Nevada; one daughter and son-in-law, Sondra and Keith Lindsey of Minco; one brother, Lester Jolly of Minco; four grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents Jesse and Gladys Jolly, and a younger sister, Patsy Jean Wermske. |
