Gerald "Jaybird" Cody Denton passed away July 10, 2006 at 67 years of age.
Services were held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 15, 2006 at the St. Thomas More University Parish in Norman. Reverend Ray K. Ackerman officiated with arrangements made by Eisenhour Funeral Home, Blanchard. Denton was born January 27, 1939 in Hydro to Anna Midge (Cody) and Kermit A. Denton, Sr. He attended Oklahoma City Public Schools, St. Joseph Prep School in Muskogee, and Menard Memorial High School in Alexandra, La. After graduation, Denton served in the Marine Corp. He also worked with his brother in the nightclub and bar business for many years and was an over the road truck driver until his retirement in 2001. Denton loved working with machinery and tinkering with old cars. He was an avid music fan and loved animals, especially bulldogs. Prior to his passing, Denton was helping in the development of Lyla Glen in Washington, Okla. He was a free spirit with a kind, generous heart. He never met a stranger, and will be missed by all who knew him. Denton was a follower of the Red Road and participated in the Native American Sweat Lodge. Survived by his brother, Kermit A. Denton, Jr., and wife Sandra, of Blanchard; brother, Gary Denton and wife Val of Norman; nephews, Brian, Andy, and wife, Tanya, Jimmy and wife Karen; nieces Leslye and husband, Angel; Lisa and husband, Shawn; several great nieces, great nephews, cousins and a host of friends. Denton was preceded in death by his mother, Anna Midge Denton, father, Kermit A. Denton, Sr., and niece Lyla Denton. |
