Jimmie Dale Vineyard
Dec 31, 1939 - Sep 25, 2020
Posted by: Ann Weber

Wilson Little Funeral Home
Purcell-Newcastle, McClain Co., OK
(permission granted)

Jimmie Dale Vineyard delighted his parents, Orville and Gladys, by being born on December 31, 1939, just in time to be a tax deduction. They lived in Sulphur, Oklahoma but later moved to Oklahoma City. He passed away on September 25, 2020, in the presence of his loving wife, Nancy.

Besides being a talented artist, Jim played the trumpet in high school and in a private band. In 1958, he graduated from Capitol Hill High School. After two years at Oklahoma City University, he dropped out and was drafted into the Army. He was stationed at Fort Huachuca, Arizona where he taught basic math to enlisted men.

Jim was always a faithful provider. He worked at Prestolite Battery Company until it closed. Then he was hired at General Motors, taking an early medical retirement after nearly 20 years of service.

Besides his love for big band music and drawing, Jim was a handyman and a car guy. And he collected almost anything from flea market finds to antique furniture and old guns. In his later retirement years, Jim and Nancy liked to travel, either with tour groups or on their own. They both enjoyed trips to Branson.

But his greatest joy in life came from their blended family. Jim leaves behind: his wife Nancy; son Jimmie and his wife Cindy; daughter Judy Gregory and husband Ron; stepson James Bradford Davis and wife Marysabell; five grandchildren: Kara Gregory-Casiano and husband Alan; Lindsey Gregory; Arianna Davis; Tyler Davis; Warren Vineyard and wife Katie; plus one great grandson, Waylon Vineyard.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to First Baptist Church of Newcastle, P.O. Box 299, Newcastle, OK 73065, or to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601 or @ alz.org.

Graveside Services are scheduled for 1:30 P.M. Thursday, October 1, 2020, at Newcastle Memorial Gardens. The service will be live streamed on our Facebook page, Wilson Little.
