John Bosman “J.B.” Taylor, 79, of Blanchard, died Wednesday, April 24, 2013 at his home. The son of Zinnia (Morgan) and Velmer Roy Taylor, Sr., he was born July 8, 1933 in the Hope Community in Stephens County, Oklahoma.
He served our country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He married Phyllis Ann Gentry on November 14, 1955 in Wichita Falls, Texas. John worked for many years as a heavy equipment operator and was a member of the Symmes Street Holiness Church in Norman. His greatest enjoyment in life was his Lord Jesus Christ and his family. He liked repairing and trading lawn mowers and enjoyed gardening.
He is preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother, Corbit Ray Taylor.
John is survived by his wife of 57 years, Phyllis Taylor of Blanchard; three sons, Johnny Taylor and wife, Hughrene, of Blanchard, Delbert Taylor and wife, Deana, of Washington and Billy Taylor and wife, Sherry, of Blanchard; one daughter, Judy Maynard and husband, Tim, of Flint Ridge; eleven grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; two brothers, Roy Taylor and wife, Leona, of Amber and Henry Taylor and wife, Sharon, of Perkins; two sisters, Bertha Roha and husband, Dan, of Texas and Edith Taylor of Marlow; and numerous other loved ones and friends.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, April 27, 2013 at Trinity Holiness Church in Blanchard. Interment will follow in Newcastle Memorial Gardens in Newcastle. Phyllis Ann (Gentry) Taylor, 86, of Blanchard died Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at her home.
The daughter of Robert Beryl Gentry and Laura Bernadine (Sutherland) Gentry, she was born October 12, 1937, in Dixie Community, Oklahoma.
She married John Bosman ”J.B.” Taylor on November 14, 1955, in Wichita Falls, Texas and he preceded her in death on April 24, 2013 after 57 years of marriage
She was a faithful member of Trinity Holiness Church in Norman.
Phyllis was very talented and enjoyed cross-stitching, sewing, and quilting. All Phyllis wanted in life was to be a great mother and wife and she exceeded that goal. Her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, J.B. Taylor; and one sister, Janie Bechtold.
Phyllis is survived by one daughter, Judy Maynard and her husband, Tim, of Flint Ridge; three sons, Johnny Taylor and his wife, Hughrene, of Blanchard, Delbert Taylor and his wife, Deana, of Washington, and Billy Taylor and his wife, Sherry, of Blanchard; one sister, Laura “Lolly” Gauna and her husband, Tony, of California; one brother, Phil Gentry of Ohio; eleven grandchildren; twenty-three great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild; and many other loved ones and friends.
Funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M., Monday, March 11, 2024, at the Trinity Holiness Church, 502 East Symmes Street, Norman, Oklahoma. Burial will follow in the Newcastle Memorial Gardens in Newcastle. Arrangements are under the direction of Eisenhour Funeral Home of Blanchard.
