Mark Shaw was born on September 17, 1960 in Oklahoma City and died Sunday, August 14, 2011 in Oklahoma City.
He was the youngest of three sons born to Edward Carol Shaw and Coletta Faye (Smith) Shaw. Mark grew up in Newcastle and graduated from Newcastle High School in 1978. While in high school he was active in sports, FFA and enjoyed singing. On January 30, 1982, Mark married the love of his life, Cindy GARRETT. They made their home in Newcastle and together raised two children. Candace and Clint. Some of Mark's first jobs were working for M & T Specialties, Machinery Inc., and Crosslands Rentals. In 1996 he began working for the U. S. Postal Service on S. Penn-OKC as a letter carrier. Mark loved his job but had to retire in 2010 because of his failing health. Thought out his life he was an avid outdoorsman where he loved hunting and fishing. He was also quite the handyman and carpenter. But most of all, Mark was a family man. He loved his wife and children and especially enjoyed spoiling his two granddaughters who called him “Pa”.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ed “Pop” Shaw in 2003 and his mother-in-law, Vanda “Jean” Shaw Garrett in 2007.
He is survived by his wife, Cindy Shaw of the home in Newcastle; daughter Candace Baldwin and husband Brian of Tulsa; son Clint Shaw and fiance Abigail Hess of Tulsa; mother, Coletta Shaw of Carnegie; two granddaughters, Mackenzie and Madison Baldwin; two brothers, Craig Shaw and wife Phyllis of Newcastle and Rodney Shaw and wife Sheila of Watonga; father-in-law, Jim Garrett and wife Sara of Tuttle; many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at Woodland Hills Baptist Church in Newcastle.
Burial will be in the Newcastle Memorial Gardens under the direction of Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Newcastle.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Woodland Hills Baptist Church building fund.
