William Morgan, age 80, of Newcastle passed away on July 1, 2023.

William Ted Morgan was born on March 16, 1943 in Rock Springs, Wyoming, the 3rd of 6 children born to William Howard Morgan and Elizabeth Thressia (White) Morgan. The Morgan family left Rock Springs when Ted was around two years old to settle on a farm in Salem, Oklahoma. He grew up in the area, and attended Graham High School, where he graduated with the Class of 1961.

Shortly after graduating, he decided to further his education and attended OSU Tech in Muskogee, to become a Printing Press Operator. He traveled for work, having numerous jobs in Kansas and Arkansas, before eventually settling down in Norman, Oklahoma. It was here that he began working for the Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma, printing the Baptist Messenger, for nearly 37 years.

In February of 1980, he was introduced to a woman named, Susan Déaughn Couch, by mutual friends. The two became one, and were married in December of that same year. The rest, as they say, is history. Ted and Susan were foster parents to several kids over the years, and in January of 1984, they started the process to be able to adopt. The couple brought home their biggest blessing, their son Casey, in October of 1984.

Ted truly was one of a kind, incredibly generous, and humble to a fault. He was a man of great faith and a true disciple. He served as a children’s pastor at Immanuel Baptist Church in Norman, and at Woodland Hills Baptist Church in Newcastle, preaching the gospel for over 25 years. He touched the lives of many throughout his years in ministry.

Ted also was a talented carpenter, and he built many treasures for his church and friends. More than anything, Ted was a family man. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. They were his pride and joy, and he cherished every moment with them. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to many. He will be dearly missed!

He was preceded in death by: his parents, William and Elizabeth Morgan; sisters, Carole Ann Smith and Marilyn Yandle; brothers, John Wayne Morgan and Jack Morgan.

Ted is survived by: his loving wife, Susan Morgan of the home; son, Casey Morgan (Sarah) of Glasgow, Kentucky; brother, Bob Morgan of Henryetta; sister-in-law, Cindi Hickmott of Austin, Texas; brothers-in-law, Danny Couch (Judy) of Fort Worth, Texas and Scott Couch (Kathy) of Austin, Texas; four grandchildren, Rylee, Zack, Judah, Josiah, and a host of other family and friends.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Thursday, July 6, 2023 at Woodland Hills Baptist Church in Newcastle. Burial will follow at Newcastle Memorial Gardens. www.wilsonlittle.com
