G. David McCarroll, DVM, DACVIM, age 62 of Bridge Creek, OK. passed away Friday, May 25, 2012 at Baptist Hospital in OKC.

David was born on March 4, 1950 in Freeport, TX. He was the oldest son of four, born to George Fentress McCarroll and Patricia Anne (Mackey) McCarroll.

David grew up in Texas; however he moved to CA. his senior year and graduated in 1968 from Lynbrook H. S. in San Jose. After H.S . he attended Texas A & M University, graduating in 1972, only one year later in 1973, he received his DVM from Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine. Throughout his high school and college years, David loved sports and had played football, rugby and wrestled. After graduating and becoming a Veterinarian, David married Patricia Nelson in the fall of 1973. Together they made their home in Texas where they started a family and David began practicing veterinary medicine. In 1975, David moved to Stillwater, OK and taught two years at the OSU college of Veterinarian Medicine. In 1978, he moved to Tennessee and taught for one year, a year later in 1979 he moved back to OK, and then in 1980 he practiced medicine in Pilot Point, TX. for four years. In 1984 he moved back to Norman, OK where he worked at the Golden Valley Vet Clinic. It was in 1993 that he built Interstate Equine Services on I-35 and Ladd Rd. in Goldsby, OK where he was still practicing at the time of his death. David remarried on Sept. 25, 1999, marrying Trina Heindl of Blanchard. Together they made their home in the Bridge Creek community and attended church in Newcastle. David’s work and family were his life.

He was a member of numerous organizations including; AVMA, OVMA, AAEP, VMG, SOC, NSBA, OQHA and AQHA. He had worked hard and was proud to be appointed as “The Official Veterinarian” for the American Quarter Horse Association. David was a life long student and educator in the Equine industry. He was an avid reader, enjoyed photography, buying all kinds of technical gadgets and greatly enjoyed snow skiing with his family.

He was preceded in death by: Father: George McCarroll

He is survived by: Wife: Trina McCarroll of the home Mother: Patricia McCarroll of San Antonio, TX Five children: Kimberlyn Hall and husband Charlie of OKC Emily Baer and husband Jeff of Superior, CO Jesilyn McCarroll of Bridge Creek, OK Seth McCarroll of OKC Cole Maggard of Bridge Creek

Three brothers: James Dennis McCarroll and wife Karen of Deer Park, TX Duncan McCarroll, MD and wife Karis of San Antonio John McCarroll, DVM and wife Jeanne of Pilot Point, TX Uncle and aunt: Stewart and Marilyn McCarroll of Athens, TX

Seven grandchildren: Ashley, Lindsay, Natalie and Brady Baer, Chase, Liv and Bella Hall His wife’s parents: Kathleen Heindl of Hanover Park, IL Kenneth Heindl and wife Pat of Prairie Grove, IL Also many nieces, nephews, cousins, other in-laws, and a host of friends.

Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, May 30, 2012 at the First Baptist Church in Newcastle, OK.

Interment will follow at the Newcastle Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Memorials may be made to your local American Red Cross. Arrangements are with Wilson-Little Funeral Home, 3132 Tri-City Ave., Newcastle, OK. 73065. Write online condolences and read obituary at wilsonlittle.com.

Visitation hours at Funeral Home will be Sunday, May 27, 1-5pm; Monday, May 28, 1-8pm, Tuesday, May 29, 9am-8pm with family present from 5-8pm.
