Kannon Isham Manis age 22 of OKC formerly of Newcastle, went home to be with his Lord on Saturday, November 12, 2016.
He was born on October 6, 1994 in Oklahoma City, OK. He was the oldest child of four children born to Dustin Keith Manis and Mischelle Christian (Sims) Manis. Kannon grew up in the Newcastle, Blanchard and Bridgecreek communities. He graduated in 2012 from the Central Oklahoma Alliance of Christian Home Schools.
Kannon loved his sister and brothers very much and had a special relationship with each of them. He was their protector, mentor, coach, and friend. Kannon placed his faith in the Lord Jesus Christ as a young child and held to those beliefs until he met the Lord face to face on Saturday.
Kannon was the Brazilian Jiu-jitsu Instructor at Pride Mixed Martial Arts in Edmond. Kannon began his journey in Martial Arts at the age of five and earned his first Black Belt at 11 years old. He continued learning, training, teaching and competing throughout his life. During this time, he achieved numerous degrees, won numerous competitions and held many titles. Kannon was a two time World Muay Thai Champion and a National Muay Thai Champion. He was a Full Instructor under Warrior's Way International, an Apprentice Instructor under Sayoc Kali, and the highest ranking Black Belt at Pride Mixed Martial Arts under Guro Jason Epps.
Kannon's nickname was Monkey and hundreds of children knew him only as Coach Monkey. He was loved, adored, and respected by his students, his Instructors, his friends, and his family.
Those he loved, he loved deeply.
Despite his many accomplishments, he struggled to rest and find peace. Those things elude him no longer. Kannon will be missed greatly.
