Trey Robert Freeman age 7 of Newcastle, went home to be with Jesus on Sunday, September 1, 2013 in Dallas, Texas. He was born on April 13, 2006 in Dallas, Texas. He was the 4th of five children born to Jeremy Freeman and Emily (McMains) Freeman. Trey grew up in Newcastle, where he was enrolled in the 1st grade. Trey was an energetic little boy who enjoyed playing soccer, baseball, and family kickball games. He was the all-time best Freeman family kickball pitcher. He rarely went anywhere without his backpack full of action figures, and he loved super heroes. Trey loved to tell jokes and make others laugh. He had a smile that could light up the room and warm any heart. He was easy to fall in love with. He also loved his brothers and sisters so much. Each one of them was special to him in their own way. He was a member at the Newcastle First Baptist Church where his father is the pastor. On January 8th, 2013 Trey trusted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior, and was so excited to tell others about his spiritual birthday. He loved writing down Bible verses and learning about Jesus. He exhibited tremendous spiritual depth for one so young. Over the last year, Trey fought a heroic battle against a rare form of leukemia. He spent over 200 days in the hospital, yet he rarely complained or felt sorry for himself. Because of his amazing bravery, he earned the nickname “Super Trey,” which was posted outside his hospital room door. Trey’s journey has impacted thousands of people, and his impact will continue for years to come. When the doctors made rounds every morning, they would always ask Trey if he had any questions. Trey only had one question every day………. “When can I go home?” Trey is finally home! He is finally free!
