Tommy Files, age 58 of Newcastle, passed away Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at Norman Regional Hospital. Tommy Ray Files was born July 21, 1962 in Okla. City, OK, the 4th of 5 children born to Johnny Lowell Files Sr. and Dorothy Mae (Skidmore) Files. Tommy was raised in Newcastle and attended school there, graduating with the Racer Class of 1981. On October 30, 1982, Tommy married his best friend and soul mate, Gina Marie Morris. Newcastle was home, and so they made their home there, and raised two daughters, Tamara and Dystani. Tommy found work with National Elevator Industry. He was a proud member of the Local Union 63, and constructed commercial elevators for many years. He enjoyed his work; both the challenges and the rewards, and he would be working today if it were medically possible. Tommy was an overcomer, and when his health began to decline, he remained positive. And whether it was a doctor’s visit or rehabilitation, he accepted the challenge. Tommy just loved being outdoors. He enjoyed camping, tending to his garden and hunting, and was the happiest when he was fishing. He cherished Gina, his girls and especially his grandson Gunner. Gunner brought so much joy to Tommy and he looked forward to every minute with his “Big Buddy Boy”. He was a man of great faith, and he faced his illness with great assurance. He will be deeply missed!

He was preceded in death by: his grandson, Stryker Langley.

Tommy is survived by: his wife, Gina of the home; daughters, Tamara McCandless and husband Josh of Newcastle and Dystani Langley and husband Jordan, His pride and joy, grandson Gunner Langley of Blanchard; his parents, Johnny Sr. and Dorothy Files of Newcastle; 3 brothers, Johnny Files Jr. and wife Nancy of Newcastle, Don Files and wife Sherrie of Newcastle and Paul Files and wife Cheryl of Blanchard; sister, Pattie Barnes and husband Cedric of Newcastle; several cousins, nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and a host of other family and friends.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 11:00 A.M. Friday, April 9, 2021, at First Baptist Church in Newcastle. Burial will follow at Newcastle Memorial Gardens. Send online condolences @ www.wilsonlittle.com.
