Ray Leon Sharp, age 94 of Wayne, passed away Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at Sunset Estates in Purcell.

He was Born November 27, 1928 in Wayne, he was the baby of three children born to Samuel Arch Sharp and Ludia Bell (Murray) Sharp. Ray was raised in Wayne and attended school there, graduating with the Bulldog Class of 1948.

Later that same year on November 13th, Ray married his sweetheart, Barbara “Sue” Wallace. Together they raised three children, son Tommy and daughters Connie and Sammie.

Ray drove a truck for living, and logged countless miles hauling cross country. In his younger years, he enjoyed deer hunting. Later on, he and Sue looked forward to their annual trip to Priest Gulch, Colorado, where they spent months at a time in their travel trailer. He was a huge OU Sooner fan and a longtime ticket holder in several sports.

Ray’s heart however was always in Wayne, and he was incredibly proud of his family lineage there, spanning more than 6 generations. He was a Bulldog through and through. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle and a true friend. He will be dearly missed!

He was preceded in death by: his sweetheart, Sue Sharp; son Tommy Sharp; parents, Samuel and Ludia Bell Sharp and his sisters, Jackie Jo Courtney and Lenora Sherrod.

Ray is survived by: his daughters, Connie Ellis of Wayne and Sammie Logan and husband Bill of Paoli; daughter-in-law, Alleen Sharp of Rosedale; 11 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild, and a host of other family and friends.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Monday, November 20, 2023, at Little’s Chapel. Burial will follow at the Hopping Cemetery. www.wilsonlittle.com.

Funeral services for Barbara “Sue” Sharp, 82, of Wayne were held Feb. 22, 2013 at Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel in Purcell. Interment was at Hopping Cemetery in Wayne under the direction of Wilson-Little Funeral Home.

Mrs. Sharp passed away Wednesday, February 20, 2013, at Purcell Municipal Hospital.

Barbara Sue Wallace was born June 27, 1930 in Wayne, Okla., the only child of Thomas Burns Wallace and Eula Parilee (Power) Wallace. She grew up in Wayne and attended Wayne Schools, graduating in 1948.

Later that year, on November 13, Sue married her best friend and true love, Ray Leon Sharp. They made their home in Wayne where together they raised three children; son, Tommy Jo, and daughters, Connie and Sammie.

Sue attended beauty school and also worked a short time at Purcell Municipal Hospital. Her greatest joy however was being a homemaker, caring and providing for her family. Sue stayed active in her kids’ lives and never missed an activity or sporting event. She cherished her grandchildren and was affectionately known by them as “Nanny.” She was a wonderful example of a wife and mother, a grandmother, great-grandmother and a true friend. She will be dearly missed!

She was preceded in death by her son, Tommy Jo Sharp in July of 2012; her parents, Thomas and Eula Wallace and her parents-in-law, Sam and Lutia Sharp.

Barbara leaves behind her husband of 64 years, Ray Sharp, of the home; her daughters, Connie Ellis and husband, Sidney, of Wayne and Sammie Logan and husband, Bill, of Paoli; daughter-in-law, Alleen Sharp of Rosedale; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, and a host of other family and friends.
