Lenora Lenita (Stevenson) Perry, 91, of Wayne, Oklahoma, passed away Friday, July 15, 2016, at the Purcell Municipal Hospital.
Lenora was born January 30, 1925 in Apache, OK. Lenora was the 2nd of 8 children born to Irah Richard Stevenson and Edna Iola (Chapman) Stevenson. The family moved around on a covered wagon & while growing up her family moved around following the work, eventually settling in Arkansas. Lenora graduated from Greenwood High School. Lenora married the love of her life; a young redheaded service man named Jesse Blaylock Perry in Ft. Smith, AR. They made their home in Wayne, where together they raised 5 children, sons, Wilford Franklin (Hank), and Ira Richard, and daughters, Jessie Lenita, Pearl Ann and Evelyn Marie. Lenora cherished her family and loved being a homemaker. She enjoyed cooking and tending to both her flower and vegetable gardens. She had the best canning recipe for her sweet beets around, and loved putting up her summer garden. She liked knitting and crocheting and never missed an opportunity to go fishing with Jesse. Some years later, after Jesse’s passing, she began working as a Bus Monitor for Norman Public Schools. Lenora was a wonderful mother and grandmother, sister, aunt and a good friend. She was a longtime member of the Church of Christ in Wayne. She will be dearly missed!
She was preceded in death by: Her husband, Jesse Blaylock Perry; Her daughter, Jessie Lenita Sims; Parents, Irah and Edna Stevenson; 2 brothers, Irah Stevenson Jr and Ray Joe Stevenson and 3 sisters, Bertha Fitzgerald, Jean Herschey and Mary Lois Fitzgerald.
Lenora leaves behind: Sons, Hank Perry and wife Lea Ann of Lexington and Ira Perry of Wayne; Daughters, Pearl Ann Rowell of Sulphur, Evelyn Marie Fore of Lawton; Brother, Eldon Stevenson and wife Louise of Dixon, OK; Sister, Nat Austin and husband Don of Ft. Worth, TX; 10 grandchildren; 12 Great grandchildren; 8 great great grandchildren and A host of other family and friends.
Graveside Services will be held at 10:00a.m., Monday, July 18, 2016 at Hopping Cemetery, Wayne, OK.
