Pauls Valley, Garvin Co., OK
(permission granted)

On September 7th, 2020, Rubye Lee Murray, loving wife and mother of two children, was taken by the good lord at the grand age of 84. She went peacefully at home with her family by her side. On March 12, 1936, Rubye was born at her aunt Lois’ home in Oklahoma City to her parents, Walter and Nora Bethurum.

In 1954, a young man named Rex Murray rode up on his horse and caught her eye. Two years later they were married and shortly after that, they began their family when two beautiful girls were born, Jo Ella High and Jackie Denise Murray. Rex and Rubye lived a wonderful country life and continued their love story for 64 years. Rubye was a talented seamstress and a wonderful cook. She made beautiful quilts and embroidered clothing. She loved reading, spending time with her family and friends, mowing yards on her riding lawnmower, helping Rex with the farm animals, and enjoying a tall glass of iced tea. Rubye worked for the city of Pauls Valley before retiring in 2005. Rex and Rubye were lifetime residents of Paoli, OK and proud of the life they created. Rubye was known for her kind nature, warm smile, and for making the best gravy in the county! She was loved by many and her memory will be cherished always.

Rubye is survived by her husband Rex Murray, her two daughters, Jo High and Jackie Murray, her three grandchildren, Nocona Stingley and husband Jamie, Jody McGuffin and husband Eric, and Jamison High, and great grandchildren, Sydni Jones, Abby McGuffin, Blaze, and Coleson Stingley, all of Paoli. Rubye is preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Nora Bethurum, her older brother, Walter Ray, and her son-in-law, Billy High.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 10th, 2020 at the First Baptist Church of Paoli at 2:00PM followed by a graveside service at Hopping Cemetery, Wayne, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home
