Joe Emery Johns, age 76 of Wayne, passed away, Friday, March 12, 2021.
Joe was born April 6, 1944 in Rosedale, OK, 1 of 3 sons born to Lonnie and Pearl (Boles) Johns. Joe was raised in Rosedale and attended Wayne Schools, graduating with the Bulldog Class of 1962. After high school, he started working for the General Telephone Company. Joe then joined the Army National Guard and served for several years, before returning back home to Wayne. He began driving a truck, and drove countless hours over the years. At one time, Joe owned and operated his own Antique Store in Lexington and later worked for Hoffman’s Furniture. Joe enjoyed everyday life and especially in retirement. On his birthday in 2008, he hopped in the car and crossed the state lines to marry Glenda Faye Thiessen. Joe looked forward to doing what ever he wanted to do, and couldn’t wait to start each day with his coffee buddies at Smiley’s in Wayne. He will be dearly missed!
He was preceded in death by: his parents, Lonnie and Pearl Johns.
Joe is survived by: his wife, Faye, of the home; son, Todd Johns and wife Susan of Edmond; Grandson, Turner Johns of Norman; brothers, Lyman Johns and wife Barbara of Purcell and Bill Johns of Rosedale and a host of other family and friends.
