Jerry Lee “Jeff” Jefferson, age 72, went home to be with his Lord Saturday, October 18, 2014. He was born on October 3, 1942 in Fort Worth, Texas and raised in Oklahoma City, OK. He served the US Army from 1960 to 1963 where he learned his life-long trade of working on diesel engines and vehicles. In 1969 he started Jefferson Bus & Truck Repair, which he owned and operated the rest of his life. He was known nation-wide for his expertise in Eagle Bus mechanics and diesel truck service. Over the years many of his business contacts became close personal friends and travel companions. In 1974, Jeff accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior and served God faithfully from then on and credits all his success to Him. That same year Jeff and Shirley married. Together they enjoyed over 40 years of raising children, serving their church, traveling and fun times with friends and family. He took pleasure in travel, scuba diving, reading, fishing and talking about buses. He was an outstanding provider, protector, mechanic, do-it-yourselfer, friend, husband, Dad and Papa.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bob and Naomi Jefferson; his brother Donnie Jefferson and his daughter, Carri Cartledge.
He will be fondly remembered and missed by his wife, Shirley; Children, Jerry Jefferson and wife Tempie of Drumright, OK; daughter, Pati Martin and husband Larry of OKC, Chuck Cartledge and wife Janet of Del City; grandchildren, Kelsey, Miranda, Chaz, Myles, Montana, Sophia, and Jake; one brother, Bobby Jefferson of San Antonio; nephews, Paul Jefferson of Yukon, OK, Darren and Forrest Jefferson both of San Antonio; as well as numerous other family.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at Sooner Baptist Church in Midwest City, OK. Interment will be 3:00 p.m. at the Hopping Cemetery in Wayne, Oklahoma.
Funeral arrangements are with Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell, OK. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Sooner Baptist Church for the Falls Creek Scholarship Fund. Send online condolences @wilsonlittle.com.
