Larry “Pa” Herrin, age 66 of Wayne, passed away Monday, October 9, 2017, surrounded by his family at home.

Larry Charles Herrin was born November 27, 1950 in Purcell, OK, the oldest of 3 children born to Morris and Marie Herrin. He was raised in Wayne and attended Wayne Schools, graduating with the Class of 1969. Larry answered the call to serve his country, and joined the United States Marine Corps. Larry spent his whole life in love with one woman. On February 10, 1973, he married his best friend Melinda Sue Shawn in Purcell. To this union, 3 children were born; son, Robert and daughters Jamie Lynn and Megan. Larry worked for the railroad, and spent 38 ½ years working for BNSF, retiring in 2007 because of medical disability. Larry loved the Lord and was a man of great character and faith. He served the church wherever needed and never missed a chance to share his story. He served as Associate Pastor at the Iron Chapel Free Will Baptist Church and more recently at First Baptist Church in Wayne. Known affectionately as “Pa”, he was a good friend to many. Larry cherished his family and will be remembered as a good husband and father, grandfather, brother and uncle. He will be truly missed!

He was preceded in death by: Infant daughter, Jamie Lynn Herrin; His parents, Morris Herrin and Marie Herrin Miller and husband Max and 2 Brother-in-laws, Rick Weaver and Mark Shawn.

Larry is survived by: His wife, Melinda Herrin of the home; Son, Robert Herrin and wife Hailey of Wayne; Daughter, Megan Herrin of Wayne; Brother, Bill Herrin and wife Dru of Wayne; Sister, Pam Weaver of Wayne; 2 grandsons, Nicholas and Kevin Herrin and A host of other family and friends.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Saturday, October 14, 2017, at the First Baptist Church in Wayne.

In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wayne First Baptist Church Building Fund.

Burial will follow at the Hopping Cemetery. Arrangements by Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell.
