Gwen Edmonds, age 83 of Shawnee, OK, passed away Monday, July 3, 2017, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. Doris Gwendolyn Stinnett was born September 27, 1933 in Wayne, OK, the oldest of 3 children born to Raymond Allen Stinnett and Vernal Tennessee (Story) Stinnett. She spent her early childhood in Wayne, OK. At age 16, Gwen and the Stinnett family moved to California, where she graduated high school in 1951. She met LeRoy Edmonds and they were married May 29, 1955. They made their home in Stockton, CA, where together they raised 3 children, daughters, Sheila and Gail and son, Dale. In 1977 they moved to Shawnee, OK. For more than 30 years, they owned and operated D & L Tire Service, until their retirement. Gwen was a woman of great faith and a devoted Christian. She was a people person; a sweet, kind and loving personality, who was a blessing to her family and all who knew her. She was an excellent cook and a gifted artist, who enjoyed cake decorating and painting and most importantly, her family.

She was preceded in death by: Her parents, Raymond and Vernal Stinnett.

Gwen leaves behind: Her husband, LeRoy Edmonds of the home; Son, Dale Edmonds and wife Anna of Shawnee; Daughters, Sheila Edmonds of Tulsa and Gail Powers and husband Daryl of Shawnee; 2 sisters, Carmen Moseley and husband Don of Shawnee and LaNell McGee and husband Conrad of Stevenson, CA; 3 grandchildren, Jennifer Powers, Jeff Powers and Kelley Edmonds; Several cousins, nieces and nephews, and a host of other family and friends.

Visitation 12:00 – 1:30 p.m., Wilson-Little Funeral Home of Purcell followed by Graveside Funeral Services scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Saturday, July 8, 2017, at the Hopping Cemetery near Wayne.
