Gaylene Brewer age 63 of Lindsey, passed away on December 5, 2023.
Cheryl Gaylene Penner was born on July 31, 1960 to Jerrel Lee Penner and Doris Lee Penner (Reynolds) in Purcell, OK. Gay’s family made their home in Wayne, where she attended school and graduated with the Bulldog class of 1978.
At her cousin’s wedding shower, she met a young man named Robert Brewer and they quickly fell in love. They were married on August 26, 1978 and shared 45 years together.
Gay worked for Covercraft in Pauls Valley for almost thirty years as a shipping clerk. When she wasn’t working, she loved spending time with her grandkids and great grandkids. Gay enjoyed game nights with her family playing Pathfinder, the challenge of an escape room, and trips to the casino. She kept a neat lawn and was always on the look out for a faster riding lawn mower. Gay followed Sooner athletics, and cheered on the Softball and Football teams.
She genuinely enjoyed living life with the people around her. You could always count on her for help, no matter the circumstances- she would be there, even if that meant putting her professional possum wrangling skills to good use. She was a beloved wife, mother, and Mamaw who will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Jerrel and Doris Penner, and her sister Karla Clark.
Gay is survived by her husband Robert Brewer of the home. Her children Stephen Brewer and wife Sarah of Lindsey, and Jessica Turner and husband Don of Lindsey. Her sister, Karen Penner of Wayne, brother-in-law Bob Clark of Wayne, and her grandchildren Kyle Brewer, Andrue Miller, Shelby Miller and Nathan Jones, and Stormy and David Davenport. She also leaves behind two great grandchildren, Tessa Jones, Brinlee Jones, a little nugget on the way, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services are scheduled for 10 o’clock Tuesday December 12, 2023 at Little’s Chapel, Wilson-Little Purcell, with burial to follow at Hopping Cemetery.
