Thurman “Doug” Williams age 84 of Purcell passed away on Monday, November 9, 2015 in Purcell.

He was born March 11, 1931 in Criner, Oklahoma. He was the 6th of 13 children born to Lee Owen Williams and Julia Fern (Hardage) Williams. Doug grew up a country boy living and going to school near Criner. As a young man he learned how to work hard with his brothers and sisters by working in the broom corn and cotton fields. At the age of 21 he enlisted into the U. S. Army and proudly served his country for two years. Before he entered into the service he married Yvonne Bayless on April 24, 1953. Together they raised two children, Darla and Randy. Doug worked hard to provide for his family by working most all of his life in the oil field. At the end of his career he retired from United Drilling as a Tool Pusher. Years later after his first wife Yvonne passed away, Doug married Laura Gaddy Reed on July 4, 1992 in Purcell. He continued living in the Purcell area and he was a faithful member of Johnson Road Baptist Church. Doug and Laura enjoyed 23 wonderful years together. For many years they would go dancing three times a week in various towns throughout the surrounding counties. They also regularly attended the Purcell Senior Citizens Center. Throughout his life, Doug was an avid gardener. Most of all he loved his family and spending time with them during the holidays and family get-togethers.

He was preceded in death by: Parents, Owen and Fern Williams; First wife, Yvonne in 1977; Nine siblings, Adell Graham, Calvin Williams, Ida Lou Carr, Wanda Finch, Herman Williams, Nelson Williams, Velma Busby and two infant sisters, Sybel and Mona Jean;

He is survived by: Wife: Laura Williams of the home in Purcell; Four children: Randy Williams and wife Doretta of Purcell, Darla Delcambre of Purcell Margaret Reed-Santos and husband Michael of Dallas Anna Reed of Norman Three sisters: Merle Argumenti of Houston Sue Bayless-Witten and husband Rick of Purcell, Zelma Penton of Houston One Sister-in-Law: Barbara Williams of Purcell Six grandchildren: Leah Delcambre, Tara Anderson and husband Chad, Weston Sterling and wife Nicole, Tomi Guevara and husband James, Jennifer Williams, Lynnea Oubre and husband Chad. 11 great grandchildren, Many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other loving relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12, 2015 at Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel in Purcell. Interment will be at Hillside Cemetery in Purcell. Send online condolences @wilsonlittle.com
