Funeral services for Ricky D. Wells, 60, of Lexington were held April 2, 2012 at Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel. Interment was at Hillside Cemetery in Purcell under the direction of Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell.
Mr. Wells passed away Friday, March 30, 2012, at OU Medical Center.
Ricky was born August 28, 1951 in Purcell, OK, the oldest of 3 children born to R. L. Wells and Mildred Louise (Harper) Wells. He grew up in Lindsay and attended school there, graduating in 1969.
He proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. After returning home, Ricky later married Sharon Holder of Blanchard and together they raised a son, Clint. They made their home west of Purcell near Woody Chapel and for many years, Ricky worked as a welder. Later in life, he met and married Melissa Hoyle and they most recently have lived in Lexington. Ricky loved tinkering with automobiles and especially pickups.
He greatly enjoyed racing his friends on country roads. He loved his dogs and his current was Jack the Heeler. He enjoyed watching a good western on TV and never missed an episode of Gunsmoke.
He was preceded in death by his father, R. L. Wells.
Ricky leaves behind his wife, Melissa of the home; his son, Clint Wells of Blanchard; his mother, Mildred Wells, of Lindsay; his sister, Lisa Wells of Purcell; his brother, Kenny Wells of Foster, Okla.; one grandson, Landon Wells; a niece, Brecca Dressler and husband, Mark, and their son, Logan, of Duncan; a nephew, Russell Wells of Lindsay and several aunts and uncles and other relatives.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the Veterans Corner at P.O. Box 704, Washington, OK, 73093.
