Ed Ward age 72 of Purcell, passed away on December 27, 2022 at his home.
Edward Lee Ward was born on February 3, 1950 to Norma Jean ((Cox) Ward in Ada, Oklahoma, the second of five children. His childhood was spent moving from place to place until his family settled in Wayne where he attended high school, graduating with the Bulldog class of 1968. He took pride in being raised by a strong mother and all the things she instilled in him.
Ed later made his home in Oklahoma City where he worked for Cameron Incorporated for over 43 years, retiring as a supervisor.
After retirement, Ed moved back to Purcell and called it home ever since. He had a giving spirit and was very generous to those close to him. Over the years Ed developed a passion and appreciation for Native American art, pottery and artifacts which he enjoyed collecting. He often went antiquing, collected pocket knives, and caught an OU football, basketball or softball game on TV any chance he could. Music was a big part of his life for many years. Ed played guitar, a talent passed on to him from his mother, and was proud of his instruments. He still enjoyed playing guitar with family or friends anytime the opportunity arose. He was a loving son, brother, and uncle who will be dearly missed.
Ed was preceded in death by his mother, Norma Jean Cox.
He is survived by his longtime companion of 19 years, Pat Sherga of Norman, his brother Roger Ward and wife Claudia of Moore, and his sisters Barbara Ward of Purcell, Marina Clifton of Wayne, and Judy Mealman and husband Kenneth of Wayne.
The family will gather to remember Ed at 2:30 p.m. on January 1, 2023 at Hillside Cemetery in Purcell, OK. Send online condolences at www.wilsonlittle.com
