Vance B. Walck, age 77 of Lindsay, passed away Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at the Purcell Municipal Hospital.

Vance Benny Walck was born May 29, 1936 in Lindsay, OK, the youngest of 6 children born to Floyd Anthony Walck and Edith Leona (Baker) Walck. He was raised a country boy on a farm near the Payne and Wayne Communities. He attended Wayne Schools, graduating from Wayne High School in 1954. Vance joined the United States Air Force and served his country proudly during the Vietnam War. Vance met his true love; a young woman named Berleta Frances Shobert. They fell madly in love and were married on December 11, 1958 in Gainesville, TX. To this union, 2 daughters, Vickie and Penny and 2 sons, Vance D. and Ronnie were born. During his service, Vance was stationed in various states and called many places home, including Georgia, Florida, Michigan, Texas and Oklahoma. On June 30, 1976, Tech Sgt Vance B. Walck retired from the Air Force after a remarkable and distinguished career. At this time, Vance and Berleta moved to Wichita Falls, TX and he began working for Cryovac, a job he held for more than 15 years. They purchased a small acreage near Payne and returned home to Oklahoma in 1991. Vance loved his farm and kept his place clean; raising farm animals, driving his tractor and tending to his garden brought him much happiness. He was an avid sports fan and never missed an opportunity to watch his grandchildren play. He will be remembered as a wonderful husband and father, grandfather and great grandfather, brother, uncle and a good friend.

He was preceded in death by: His parents, Floyd and Edith Walck; A Grandson, Kyle Newlon; A brother, Billy Walck and 2 sisters, Juanita Carter and Oleta Randall.

Vance leaves behind: His loving wife, Berleta, of the home; 2 sons, Vance D. Walck and wife Annette of Ft. Worth, TX and Ronnie Walck and wife Linda of Burkburnett, TX; daughters, Vickie Rhodes of Prattville, AL and Penny Walck of Las Vegas, NV; Brother, Max Walck and wife Barbara of Lindsay; Sister, Wanda Gray of Maysville and Sister-in-law, Laverne Walck of Tecumseh; 5 Grandchildren, Kristen Pilgrim, Diana Meadows and husband Thad, Rachel Sullivan and husband Brady, Andrew Walck and Alyssa Newlon; 9 great grandchildren, Makenzie, Kylee, Berkley, Jayden, Jake, Jack, Zoey, Malin and Marin, and A host of other family and friends.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Friday, March 28, 2014, at the Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at the Hillside Cemetery under the direction of the Wilson-Little Funeral Home.
