Nelson “Tom” Wade, 81, of Perry Oklahoma passed away on Friday, September 11, 2015 at Perry Memorial Hospital. Arrangements have been entrusted under the care of Palmer Marler Funeral Home of Perry.

A funeral service will be held at Palmer Marler Funeral Home Chapel in Perry on Wednesday September 16, 2015 at 11:00 am.

Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Purcell, Oklahoma at 2:30 pm. Visitation will be held on Tuesday September 15 from 9:00 am to 8:00 pm at the funeral home with family visitation from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.

Nelson "Tom" was born on December 8th, 1933 to Bill and Lucille Wade in Purcell Oklahoma. Tom grew up in Purcell Oklahoma and graduated from Purcell High School. He met Rita Hooper Wade and they later married on February 5th, 1954 in Purcell Oklahoma at the Catholic Church. Soon after marriage they started their family. They had 4 children Tom, Debra, Pam, and Jeff.

Tom grew up during the depression. In his early 20's he was a boxer in Oakland California. He won the amateur golden gloves. He also had one professional fight that was televised. After his boxing career he worked for the railroad and G.E. He then started selling cookware. This is where he found his true love and passion. He earned numerous awards and trips for his high sales. If you would ask him what he did he would tell you "I sell pots and pans!" He always asked you if he could help you or what he could do for you no matter how well he knew you. He truly enjoyed being around people. He loved his family and spending time with his kids, grandkids, and great grandkids. He also loved the outdoors and being outside.

Tom is survived by his four children Tom R. Wade and wife Mitzi of Amarillo, TX, Debra Wade of Perry, OK, Pamela McDonald and husband Tracy of Orlando, OK and Jeff Wade and wife Jennifer of Keller, TX. Eight grandchildren Jennifer Stetnish and husband Julian, Chapelle White and husband Curtis, Nathan Wade and wife Krystal, Eric Wade, Emily Jones, Joshua Wade and wife Claire, Amber Smith and husband Cody, and Christian Wade. Thirteen great grandchildren Tyler Manek, Alicia Stetnish, Jade White, Kelby White, Levi Mendenhall, Kayden Wade, Natalie Wade, Alexi Wade, Adalyn Smith, Brayden Smith, Harrison Wade, Sam Curtis, and Paul Curtis. Three sisters Floretta Long, Doreen Hardcastle and husband Bob, and Patsy Anderson and husband Kenny; one uncle Alton Wade and Cousin Larry Wade along with numerous other cousins, nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his wife Rita Wade, parents Bill and Lucille Wade and a great granddaughter RyAnne Mendenhall.
