Hattie Faye Vickers, age 79 of Noble, passed away Thursday, April 6, 2023.
Hattie was born October 14, 1943 in Lexington, OK, in the house she was raised in. She was the older of two children born to Augustus Jack Vickers and Faye (Goodwin) Vickers. She was raised in Lexington and attended school there, graduating with the Bulldog Class of 1963.
Hattie married young, to Carl Dobyns. Tragically, he passed away four years later. She was the proud mother of two daughters, Tina Faye and Gail Marie. She worked as a dietary aid for area nursing homes for a few years, and also as a museum curator.
She married Earl Laney, made her home in Wayne for a number of years, and also lived in Pauls Valley. Hattie worked as a Department Manager for Walmart until retirement. When Earl passed away in 2013, she moved to Noble to be closer to her girls.
Away from work, she enjoyed watching cooking shows, and especially loved Emeril Lagasse. She saw every episode of Law and Order, and occasionally watched Swamp People and Professional Wrestling. Hattie was a true green thumb, and loved tending to her flowers and garden. She was an avid reader and collected many books. Her absolute favorite pastime was fishing with a cane pole, and she believed any day fishing was the best day. Hattie was a strong woman, fiercely independent, and a woman of great faith. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were here pride and joy! She was a mother to many, and adopted anyone in need. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She will be dearly missed!
She was preceded in death by: her husbands, Carl Dobyns and Earl Laney and her parents, Augustus and Faye Vickers.
Hattie is survived by: her daughters, Tina Skinner and Tony Streich of Okla. City; Gail Diggs and Johnny of Purcell; brother, Jack Vickers and Pat of Slidell, LA; Grandchildren, Dakota Skinner and Tia Northcutt of Norman, Aubrie Akins and Brandon Young of Omaha, AR and Dalton Skinner and Sunny of Lexington; 7 great grandchildren, Shaylee, Cole, Paisley, Maverick, Sterling, Haisley and Sophee; niece Alisa Lewis and nephew Allen Vickers, both of Pineville, LA and a host of other family and friends.
