WILSON-LITTLE FUNERAL HOME
PURCELL-NEWCASTLE, MCCLAIN CO, OK
(permission granted)

Carol Tomlin, age 80 of Purcell, joined the angels in Heaven Monday, January 1, 2018.

Carol Sue Mooney was born November 7, 1937 in Noble, Oklahoma, the 5th of 7 children born to Orville Lee Mooney and Gladys Marguerite (Williams) Mooney. Carol was raised a farm girl and learned the value of hard work at an early age. She prayed to be removed from the cotton patch, and in return, promised never to complain about work again. She attended high school in Hammon and she met her husband, Bill Tomlin, at church in nearby Highway. They were young and in love and married June 22, 1954 in Gainesville, TX. She graduated from Retrop High School the following year. The early years of marriage found Carol and Bill living in Oklahoma and Texas and starting their family with daughters Darla and Billie. When Bill was called to the ministry, Carol answered the call to be a minister’s wife without complaint and provided the primary source of income during Bible School and beyond while raising their family. Joining the ministry lead to 40 plus years of traveling God’s path, serving in various churches in Oklahoma, Illinois, Oregon and Texas. The last big move occurred in 1987 when Bill and Carol settled in the Purcell area, continuing to answer God’s call. Carol never forgot her promise to God and she dedicated her life in service to others. God, work, and family were Carol’s heart and she had no greater joy than doing for another. When she could no longer work, she took up crocheting in order to bless others with her talents. She was a woman of great faith, truly had the heart of a servant, and lived her life in such a manner. Carol was a wonderful wife and mother, grandmother, sister and a true friend. She will be dearly missed!

She was preceded in death by: Her parents, Orville and Gladys Mooney; Two sisters, Dorothy Jones and Linda Wright and Two brothers, Orville Mooney Jr. and Billy Mooney.; Son-in-law, Charlie Corea in 1995;

Carol is survived by: Her faithful husband of 63 ½ years, Bill of the home; Her daughters, Darla Higgins of Norman and Billie Small of Watauga, Texas; 2 sisters, Mary Lou Britton of Elk City and Janice Ryal of Oklahoma City; 4 grandchildren, Stephanie Corea of Norman, Jon Corea and wife Kenie of Norman, Kimberly Small and husband Richard Sugrue of Holyoke, MA Whitney Lloyd and husband Jason of Ft. Worth; 2 great grandchildren, Ashton Corea and BriAnne Lloyd; Several nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Monday, January 8, 2018, at the Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel in Purcell.

Burial will follow at the Hillside Cemetery, Purcell, OK.
