Dorothy Ann Thompson age 64 of Purcell, went home to be with her Lord, Friday, September 20, 2013 at Norman Regional Hospital after suffering a unexpected heart problem.
She was born January 17, 1949 in Rush Springs, Oklahoma. She was the 3rd of four children born to Sidney Alfred Gibson and Viola Nola (Davis). Dorothy grew up a farm girl living in Rush Springs. It was in her early years of her life that she developed a love for the outdoors and country living. She went to 1st and 2nd grade at Agawam before moving to Lindsay where she attended school for eight years. She then moved to Ardmore her junior year and her senior year of high school was at Dibble where she graduated with the class of 1967. It was there that she met the love of her life, a young man by the name of Bill Thompson. One year later on June 15, 1968 they were married in a little country church east of Chickasha. Together, Dorothy and Bill raised two children, Melissa and Sean and lived over the next 23 years in the Dibble, Rush Springs and Blanchard area. Then in 2010, they bought a small acreage just south of Purcell where they reside today. Over the years, Dorothy loved being a stay at home mom and homemaker. She was a wonderful wife, a loving mother and a special grandmother to her only granddaughter, Kaylie Ann. Like most homemakers, she was a fabulous cook and she liked to sew. When spending time outdoors, she enjoyed riding horses and gardening. Dorothy was a faithful Christian, an active member at the Purcell Pentecostal Holiness Church for the past 14 years. She was a loving and caring person who always had a smile and a hug for everyone she met on Sunday mornings. She will be greatly missed by her family and her many friends.
