Ernest Taylor
, age 85 of Norman, passed away Thursday, March 13, 2014, at the OU Medical Center in OKC. Ernest was born December 16, 1928 in Purcell, OK, 1 of 6 children born to George Taylor Sr. and Francis (Hawthorne) Taylor. Ernest was raised in Purcell and attended Purcell Schools. After high school, Ernest attended Tuskegee University where he earned an Associate’s Degree. Ernest joined the United States Army and served his country proudly during the Korean War where he was awarded a Purple Heart. After he retired from the Army with a distinguished career, Ernest began working in custodial maintenance for the hotel industry. Ernest was the proud father of 4 children; son, Quinton and daughters, Sandra, April and Latonya. He was a hard worker and a great provider. He was a family man first and made great sacrifices for his children and grandchildren. Ernest had a huge heart and greatly enjoyed being around people. He never missed a chance to encourage someone or share a visit. He will be dearly missed!

He was preceded in death by: His parents, George and Francis Taylor; Four Brothers, Ray, George, Purman and Jesse and His wife, Pauline McDaniel Taylor.

Ernest leaves behind: His daughters, Sandra Sparks of Englewood, CA, April Taylor of Ft. Smith, AR and LaTonya Taylor of Ft. Smith, AR; His sister, Mary Jo Brown of Wichita, KS; 9 grandchildren,Danny Jr., Kevin, Kwami, Kwaminya, Naisha, Nalisha, Nikshea, Ernest Allen and LaToma; 3 step sons, 4 step daughters; 34 great grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews and many friends.

The family will receive friends for a Wake Service, Friday evening at 6:00 P.M.

A Service of Celebration is scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Saturday, March 22, 2014, at the Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel in Purcell. Burial will follow at the Hillside Cemetery in Purcell.
