Carlene Lamar Standerfer age 65 of Norman, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2019 at Norman Regional Hospital.
Carlene was born on February 16, 1954 in Norman. She was the oldest of two daughters born to W D Lamar and Braunita (Beal) Lamar. She grew up on a ranch southwest of Norman and attended Norman schools, graduating with the class of 1972. As a young girl, Carlene enjoyed working with her father, WD and grandfather Carl Lamar on the Lamar Ranch. There she learned to ride horses, work cattle and spent a lot of time going to rodeos.
After high school, Carlene married and later raised three daughters, Tracy, Aimee and Sara Beth. She was a gifted student and attended college to become a nurse. For many years she worked in the Nursing field, working in hospitals and in the home health industry in Cleveland and McClain Counties. She especially enjoyed working with children and under privileged kids.
Carlene lived in the Norman area all of her life. She loved being in the outdoors, riding horses, fishing and working in her yard. Throughout her life she also enjoyed bowling, roller skating and riding motorcycles.
Carlene was a wonderful mother and loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by:
Grandparents, Carl and Mary Lamar, Chock and Laura Beal.
Parents,WD and Braunita Lamar.
Daughter, Sara Beth Standerfer.
She is survived by:
Husband, Irvin Pendley of the home.
Two daughters, Tracy Ratzlaff and husband Zac of Norman, Aimee Brown and husband Larry of Norman.
Seven grandchildren, Taylor and Baylee Adkins, Maci Roesler, McKenzie Brown, Olivia and Ryane Ratzlaff, Tyler Whaley and Haylee Henderson.
One great granddaughter, Averee Adkins.
Sister, Mary Reikowsky of Norman,
Cousins, David Chastain of Goldsby, Sam Chastain of California.
And other loving relatives and friends.
Graveside memorial services will be 10:00 am Saturday, Sept, 14, 2019 at Hillside Cemetery in Purcell, OK.
Memorial donations may be made to the "Mary Abbott House" in Norman or the "Bethesda Inc" in Norman.
