He was born December 10, 1927 in Wayne, Oklahoma. Kenneth was the 3rd child of five children born to John O. Smith and Bessie L. (Parker) Smith. Kenneth grew up a farm boy living in the Wayne community. He graduated from Wayne High School with the class of 1947 and while in school he was a standout basketball player.
After graduating from high school, Kenneth married Jo Hawkins on June of 1946. They soon made their home in Oklahoma City where together they raised two daughters, Bettye and Linda. Not long after moving to OKC, Kenneth worked five years at the Armor Meat Packing Plant. He then started his life long career as a truck driver, driving for Allied Supermarkets. Kenneth worked for over 35 years as a truck driver for Allied before retiring in 1980. Also while living in OKC, Kenneth was a member and a deacon at Southwest Freewill Baptist Church.
Kenneth later remarried and after retiring from Allied, he moved to the Lake Texoma area. There he loved to fish and play golf with his friends. While living at the lake, Kenneth attended Bay Point Baptist Church. Kenneth loved his family, especially his girls and his grandchildren. Because of his failing health over the past four years, he lived in Yukon with his daughter for one year, Brookdale Memory Care for two years, and for the past year he has lived at Meadowlake Estates.
