Beginnings Baptist Church with
interment following in the Hillside
Cemetery of Purcell, Oklahoma
officiated by Pastor Brian Gilbert,
Mike Hutsell & Pastor J.C. Morgan
James David Sawyer was born on
September 21, 1987 in Stillwater,
Oklahoma. He passed from this life
on September 25, 2008, just 4 days
after his 21st birthday. James was a
member of the 2006 graduating class
of Town & Country Schools. He was a
proud member of the United States
Naval Reserve where he served as a
Seabee with Unit NMCB28. He was
involved with the Operational
Support Center and enjoyed the
construction aspect of being a
Seabee. He will be remembered for
how well he met and visited with
others and it was often said that
"he never met a stranger". He always
loved riding his bicycle, was an
avid reader and greatly enjoyed
being outdoors. He was preceded in
death by his father, Michael Alan
Sawyer, his maternal grandmother;
Lila Faye Morgan and his paternal
grandfather; William Sawyer. He is
survived by his loving and devoted
mother; Sheila Kay Sawyer of Bixby,
his maternal grandfather; J.C.
Morgan of Bixby, his paternal
grandmother; Jean Sawyer of Enid,
his aunts & uncles; Shawna & Rob
Abraham, Carla & Paul Towler, Billy
Sawyer, Judi & Nick Atkins, Mark &
Raynette Morgan and Kathy & Jerry
McClellan as well as numerous
cousins, other relatives and good
friends. Casket bearers include
Travis Atkins, Jason Atkins, Brent
McClellan, Derek Abraham, Lloyd
Towler, Lance Lervig, Brian Gibson &
