Dora Lu Ellen “Ludie” Rush, age 80 of Noble, formally of Purcell, entered Heaven on January 8, 2024 surrounded by loved ones.
Ludie was born on April 8, 1943, in Purcell, OK. She was the middle child of 3 children born to Gorman and Lucille (Jones) Green. She was raised in Maysville, Oklahoma prior to the family moving to Hobbs, New Mexico.
While in school in Hobbs, she met the love of her life, James “Jimmy” Rush. Ludie's family relocated to Farmington, NM where Ludie graduated from Farmington High School with the class of 1961.
Ludie and Jimmy were married on July 7, 1959. They started their family and welcomed their children, son Donnie and daughter Debbie. They shared 45 1/2 wonderful years together before Jimmy passed away in 2005. Ludie loved Jimmy immensely and has missed him so much over the past 19 years. It's glorious to know they are reunited again. Jimmy and Ludie shared a love for classic cars, and rebuilt and owned many street rods. They traveled to many states, as far as Ohio, to attend car shows to show off their prized cars. Ludie and Jimmy won many trophies throughout the years. Ludie was a huge Dale Earnhardt fan, and in fact, she owned his signature series Monte Carlo which she loved. She would be seen driving around town and stopping by Sonic to get her morning cokes and bacon.
Ludie spent her career working in the Insurance industry where she worked for Broadmoor Insurance in Hobbs, NM. After Ludie and Jimmy moved to Purcell in 1981, she worked for C.L. Frates and Company in Oklahoma City. She enjoyed working at this agency and made many friends throughout the years. She retired from C.L. Frates on June 30, 2006. After some time, Ludie went back to work for McClain Bank in Norman. She then started working for Insurance Professionals II on Main Street in Purcell. She enjoyed her time and the friendships she made while working here. Randy and Susan always treated Ludie like family. Due to her health, she retired for a second time in 2014.
Ludie loved going to the casino where she could spend countless hours going from one machine to the next. If you were ever with her, it was hard to keep up. Ludie enjoyed sitting on the back porch and watch the birds - cardinals were her favorite. When she would see one, she would always say an angel is nearby and that brought her peace. Above all else, the light of Ludie's life was her family and best friend and companion, her sweet dog Angel. She cherished her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Even though many miles separated much of her family, she loved each of them deeply. Ludie was a beloved wife, mother, granny, great granny, sister, aunt, and a true friend. She will be dearly missed by anyone that was fortunate enough to know her.
She was preceded in death by her parents Gorman and Lucille Green, in-laws Elmer and Daphine Rush, and sister Frances Willis.
Ludie is survived by her dog-daughter Angel, daughter Debbie Black of Noble, son Donnie Rush of Oklahoma City. Grandchildren McKenzie Black, Joshua Rush and wife Brooke, Morgan Rush, and bonus granddaughter Alayna Weeks and husband Cecil. Great Grandchildren Britton Rush, Maya Rush, Hoyt Cox, Millie Cox, Meredith Weeks, and Lyle Weeks. Brother Gorman Green Jr. and wife Karen. Brother-in-Law Eugene Rush and wife Barbara. She also leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews.
