William “Bill” John Raisey age 88 of Purcell, passed away Friday, April 15, 2016. Bill was currently living in Augusta, Kansas close to his daughter and her family.
Bill was born on March 22, 1928 in Providence, Rhode Island. He was the youngest of three children born to Victor John Raisey and Edith (Hilton) Raisey. Bill grew up in Providence where he also graduated from high school in 1946. That same year on October 1, 1946 he enlisted into the United States Army. For the next two years, he proudly served his country before being honorably discharged on March 9, 1948. After returning home from the army, Bill began working in the printing business, working for the Providence Journal. This was the beginning of his lifelong career in the printing business. On Labor Day Weekend, September of 1954, nearly 62 years ago, Bill married his best friend and the love of his life, Jean Cox Cameron Britland. In August of 1974, they moved to Purcell, Oklahoma where together they raised three children, Susan, Diane, and David. While living in Oklahoma, he worked for Norick Brothers in Oklahoma City until he retired. For many years, Bill and Jean owned a Christmas Tree Farm west of Purcell. This was their favorite time of the year for them and their family. People would come from far and near to choose and cut their very own Christmas tree. Bill also made fresh evergreen Christmas wreaths for homes and businesses in the surrounding communities. He loved working with his hands and could make anything. Bill was a Mason for 65 years and an active member of the Purcell Masonic Lodge #27. He was a giving person and always enjoyed doing for others.
He was preceded in death by: Parents, Victor and Edith Raisey; Two sisters Margie McCarthy and Barbara Waters Wife, Jean Raisey on Sept. 2, 2015;
He is survived by: One son, David Raisey and Darius of Frisco, TX, Two Daughters, Diane Fuller and husband Roger of Augusta, KS, Susan Mullaney and husband Tommy of Norman; 8 grandchildren, Jennifer Flores and husband Austin of Midland, TX Ethan and Quinten Fuller of Augusta, KS, Erin Lynch and husband Jacob of Norman, Peighton, Britland and Braq Elle Raisey of Frisco, TX and Paul Mullaney of Norman; 4 great grandchildren, Brayden and Brenley Flores and Emily and Cole Lynch. A host of other family and friends.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel in Purcell. Burial will follow at the Hillside Cemetery in Purcell.
