Longtime Purcell resident, Jean Cox Cameron Britland Raisey, age 83, passed away Wednesday September 2, 2015, in Augusta, KS. Jean was born January 14, 1932 in Pawtucket, Rhode Island to Joseph Britland and Mary (Cameron) Britland. She attended Business School and later the University of Oklahoma Law School, eventually obtaining her Paralegal Degree. Jean worked in Legal Assistance for many years, retiring from a large oil company in Oklahoma City. On Labor Day Weekend, nearly 61 years ago, she married her best friend and the love of her life, William John Raisey. In August of 1974, they settled west of Purcell where together they raised 3 children, son, David and daughters, Diane and Susan. Jean cherished her family. She looked forward to spending time with family and friends, and she especially loved being a grandmother and great grandmother. Jean was an active volunteer for the American Red Cross, an advocate for CASA, and a longtime member of the Okeyha Mother’s Club. She enjoyed playing cards and never missed an opportunity to visit the casino. Many locals will remember Jean from the Christmas Tree Farm. She anxiously awaited this time every year. She loved having all of the families come visit and greatly enjoyed the kids coming to the barn to get a candy cane from the tree and a cup of apple cider. She will forever be remembered for her kind heart and unselfish service to others.
She was preceded in death by: Her parents, Joseph and Mary Britland and Her brother, George Britland.
Jean leaves behind: Husband, Bill, of the home; Daughters, Diane Fuller and husband Roger of Augusta, KS, Susan Mullaney and husband Tommy of Norman; Son, David Raisey and Darius of Frisco, TX 8 grandchildren, Jennifer Flores and husband Austin of Midland, TX Ethan and Quinten Fuller of Augusta, KS, Erin Lynch and husband Jacob of Norman, Peighton, Britland and Braq Elle Raisey of Frisco, TX and Paul Mullaney of Norman; 3 great grandchildren, Brayden and Brenley Flores and Emily Lynch and A host of other family and friends.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Saturday, September 5, 2015, at the Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at the Hillside Cemetery. Arrangements by Wilson-Little of Purcell. Send online condolences at wilsonlittle.com.
