Ted Parnell, age 88 of Purcell, passed away Wednesday, December 7, 2016, at the Purcell Municipal Hospital.
Ted was born March 2, 1928 in the Antioch Community south of Maysville. He was the oldest of 5 boys born to John K. Parnell and Annie Lee (Huddleston) Parnell. As a young boy, he lived in various towns as the family followed work. On September 4, 1947, he married his best friend and the love of his life, Wanda June Bray, at the First Baptist Church in Purcell. They made their home in Purcell where they raised their family, son, Jimmy Ray and daughters, June and Mary Beth. Ted began working for Jacobson Concrete where he drove a truck for 14 years. He then began working for W&W Steel Company, retiring in 1993 after more than 21 years. When not working, Ted enjoyed fishing and mowing his yard, and he often recalled stories of his days on the road. He was a longtime member of the Unity Missionary Baptist Church. He was a wonderful husband and father, grandfather, brother, uncle and a good friend.
He was preceded in death by: His wife, Wanda Parnell; His daughter, June McAlister; Granddaughter, Shannon McAlister; His parents, John and Annie Parnell and 3 brothers, Dan Lee, Penny and John Parnell.
He is survived by: His son, Jimmy Ray Parnell and Elizabeth of Lexington; Daughter, Mary Beth Parnell of Purcell; His brother, Marty Parnell of Mustang; 3 grandchildren, Shaun McAlister Choctaw, Tamara Palmer and husband Randall Of Yelm, Washington and Bryan Parnell of Noble; 4 great grandchildren, Mason, Sierra, Kaitlynn and Tommy; Several Nieces and Nephews, and a host of other family and friends.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Monday, December 12, 2016, at the Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at the Hillside Cemetery.
