Carl Oswalt, age 83 of Purcell, passed away Saturday, November 4, 2017, at the Lexington Nursing Home.
John Carl Oswalt was born March 18, 1934 in Pottawatomie County, the baby of 5 children born to John Edgar and Hester Morrison (Green) Oswalt.
Carl started school at Washington, moving later to Purcell where he graduated with the Class of 1952. While in school, Carl played sports and was a standout football player.
In July of that same year, Carl married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Farrel Jean Ford. They made their home in Purcell where together they raised 2 children, son Johnny and daughter Pam.
Carl began working in the oil field, and he worked in a variety of jobs throughout the years, but mainly as a tool pusher.
Carl was a friendly man who loved his family and friends. He looked forward to trips to Ruby’s or Val’s where he could talk and visit with people.
He was a strong man of faith and a member of the Sunray Baptist Church in Purcell. Carl cherished his family and especially Farrel, as they recently celebrated 65 years of marriage. He was a loving husband and father, grandfather, uncle and a true friend. He will be dearly missed!
He was preceded in death by: His parents, Edgar and Hester Oswalt; 2 sisters, Jo Ann Linville and Glendeen Keith and 2 brothers, Earl Oswalt and Jack Oswalt.
Carl is survived by: His loving wife, Farrel; Daughter, Pam Coym and husband Mike of Cleburne, TX; Son, Johnny Oswalt and wife Geneva of Purcell; 4 grandchildren, Dustin Oswalt and Kelly Smith of Purcell, Brett Coym and wife Amanda of Burleson, TX and Stacia Rodgers and husband Landon of Purcell; 6 great grandchildren, Cooper, Colby, Delaney, Everly, Reydon and Kenleigh And a host of other family and friends.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, November 8, 2017, at the Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at the Hillside Cemetery.
