Mrs. Olson, age 91, of Wayne, passed away at the Purcell Municipal Hospital.
Clare Aleva Boyd was the older of two daughters born to Irving Roger Boyd
and Hetvig "Hattie" Bertha Scheuneman Boyd.
Raised in Greene, IA, she attended school there and later attended Stephens
Women’s College where she studied Aviation and earned her Bachelors of
Business Degree.
Clare married Russell Olson and to this union, 3 children, a son, Mike and
daughters, Christie and Marcy were born.
Employed at the Federal Center in Denver for several years, she later
bought, sold and traded horses, mules, saddles and tack. She also took great
pride serving as an excellent waitress.
After living in the Sandhills of Nebraska for a time, she relocated to the
Purcell/Wayne area in 1996.
Instrumental in the advent of the AI horse breeding program at Colorado
State University she provided mares for study. She was a founding member of
The Rocky Mountain Long Ears Association, one the the first Mule Clubs.
Also, she became a foundation breeder of the Australian Shepherd by helping
to develop an excellent stock and family dog.
One of her greatest pleasures was bartering at yard sales.
Preceded in death by her parents.
Her survivors include: her son, Mike
Olson; Daughters, Christie Donahue and Marcy Blanton; her “Adopted Daughter”
Susan Jenkins; sister, Charmayne Sneed; 5 grandchildren; Kevin, Cory and
Amanda Yeager & Christopher and Ryan Olson, 3 great grandchildren and her
beloved dog, “Joey”.
Funeral Services: 2:00 P.M. Monday, February 29, 2016, at the Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel, Purcell.
