Orean Daniel "Preston"
Nichols

Posted by: Ann Weber
He attended Central High School in Oklahoma City before leaving school and joining the United States Air Force. Preston served his country proudly for more than 22 years. During this time, he was deployed to many exciting places during his distinguished career. He retired from NORAD at Cheyenne Mountain, CO as a Code Breaker in Intelligence gathering. And although genuinely excited about his time served, he rarely spoke of it, and he protected the oath he swore to uphold. Preston returned home to Oklahoma and began working. He was instrumental in bringing Midwest Outpatient Dialysis Center to Oklahoma City, the first of its kind in this area, and he was extremely proud of this work. On June 24, 1995, in Las Vegas, NV, Preston married Karen Sue Higgins. They made their home in Wynnewood for many years, and for the last 8 years have called Blanchard home. Preston loved animals and raised a variety of unique critters. He loved everything OU, and especially Sooner football. You would find him at his happiest when playing cards in Vegas, and he never missed an opportunity for some high stakes Black Jack. He was proud of his Chickasaw roots and shared many stories about his grandfather, the first full blooded Native American Sheriff of Pontotoc County. Preston cherished his family; he was deeply loved and will be dearly missed!
