Frank Morris age 96 of Noble, passed away on February 9, 2023 in Norman, OK.
Frank Joseph Morris was born to Raymond Bruce Morris and Mary Elizabeth Morris (Lewis) on June 5, 1926 in Redlands California. He grew up and attended school in the area until the call came to serve his country in the second world war. He proudly served in the United States Navy aboard the U.S.S. Sevier and the U.S.S. Rolette throughout the Pacific during the war, and earned several awards and commendations. Frank was at the battle of Iwo Jima and Okinawa, and spent some time in Japan after the war.
When he returned to the states, Frank got his GED, he took great pride in finishing what he started. He began working as a mechanic for the United States Postal Service in California, and was transferred in 1969. Frank, his wife Ruby Mae and their two boys Michael and Richard made their way to central Oklahoma and called it home ever since. He climbed the ranks in the postal service until his retirement in 1986.
Frank was a true history buff, he traveled the country with a camper on his truck visiting Civil War Battle sites, following the Louis and Clark Trail, the Trans-Canadian Trail, and always made pit stops for the best road side attractions. He had an insatiable taste for adventure from dirt track driving in his youth, to sailing his 29 foot boat the “Noble Venture” to sea from Mississippi- no thrill or trek seemed too daunting. Later in life he enjoyed the companionship of his close friend Tommie Maxie and they attended every OU Softball and OU Women’s basketball game they could. Frank was a beloved father and grandfather who will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his wife Ruby Mae Morris, his companion Tommie Maxie, and his siblings George Morris, Thelma Lee Lightle, Mary Ruth Kelly, and Dick Morris.
He is survived by his brother Marion Morris of Texas, and his children, Rick Morris and wife Mary of Purcell, and Mike Morris and wife Dana of Norman. His grandchildren Sarah Klimkoski and husband Jayme, Susie Thrash and husband Coy, and Matthew Morris. Frank also leaves behind two great grandchildren Emet Klimkoski and Luna Thrash.
Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Monday February 13, 2023 at Hillside Cemetery in Purcell, OK. Send online condolences at www.wilsonlittle.com
