She was born on her parent's farm on July 5, 1919 near the town of Carrier, in Garfield County, Oklahoma. She was the only child to Roy William Mitchell and Mary Helen Davis Mitchell. She grew up on the farm and at the age of 16 she went to Oklahoma A. & M. Billie met Roy Allen Maynard while attending Oklahoma A. & M. They were married in Edmond on April 27, 1940. Roy died February 29, 1992. Billie and Roy lived in Purcell for a couple of years after college until they moved to the Enid area. Billie worked for an insurance agency as the office manager and she and Roy farmed in Carrier. They were very active with an Enid Golf Association. In 1958, they moved to Oklahoma City and she went to work for Kimberlin Insurance Agency until her retirement. Billie and Roy moved back to Purcell in 1985. She was an avid golfer. She loved and enjoyed making crafts. She was a member of the Purcell Friends.
She was preceded in death by parents, Roy William and Mary Helen Mitchell; husband, Roy Allen Maynard .
She is survived by 2 sons, Terry Allen Maynard and his wife Donna of Gainesville, Virginia, Lonnie Niell Maynard of Norman; grandchildren, Bryan Maynard of San Juan, Puerto Rico, Dana Davis and her husband Steve of Midwest City, Oklahoma, Steven Maynard and his wife Tracy of Bristow, Virginia, Susan Raymond and her husband David of Gainesville, Virginia; great grandchildren, Brea Davis of Midwest City, Oklahoma, Kayden Davis of Midwest City, Oklahoma, Lauren Raymond of Gainesville, Virginia.
Graveside service will be at 10:00 AM, Saturday, May 5, 2001 at Hillside Cemetery in Purcell. Officiating will be Rev. Duane Elmore. Arrangements are under the direction of Wilson-Little Funeral Home in Purcell.
