Services for Madeline Mayfield, 86, were held Monday, April 24 at 11:00 a.m. at Baptist Temple, 2433 Northwest 30th Oklahoma City under the direction of Guardian North Funeral Home.
Interment followed in Hillside
Cemetery in Purcell, OK.
Madeline M. Peters was born near Lindsay, Garvin County, Oklahoma on May 20,
1913, the second of four children born to Grover Cleveland and Mary Alice Mowdy
Peters and passed away Friday, April 21, 2000, at Epworth Villa in Oklahoma
City, where she had made her home for the past eight years.
Madeline married Britt J. Mayfield in October, 1936. They were faithful
members of Baptist Temple in Oklahoma City for many years. She graduated from
Dibble High School and received a degree
from Oklahoma A&M College. She taught school at Fox in McClain County and at
Andrew Jackson, Gatewood, and several other Oklahoma City schools.
Preceding here in death were her husband, Britt, in September 1981; her
parents; a brother, Roy Peters, Sr.; and two nephews, Alan and Steve Peters.
She is survived by her son, Britt Max Mayfield and his wife, Linda of Miami,
Florida; three grandchildren, Lee, Lindsay, and Lauren, also of Miami; a sister,
Iliene Duncan of Purcell; a brother and sister-in-law, Grover and Margaret
Peters of Killeen, Texas; and a sister-in-law, Christine Peters of Oklahoma
City. Other survivors include a very dear and faithful friend at Epworth Villa,
Margaret Bickford as well as nieces and nephews, Marilyn Ehlers and husband,
Richard; Jeanie Sisson and husband, Ken, all of Oklahoma City, Roy Peters, Jr.
and wife, Barbara of Tulsa; Dale Duncan and wife, Judy of Carlsbad, CA; Clevie
Peters and wife, Breese; Sue O'Brien and husband, Shawn, all of San Antonio,TX;
and several great nieces and nephews.
