Roberta Mantooth age 94 of Purcell, passed away Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at the Purcell Municipal Hospital surrounded by her family.
She was born on February 28, 1918 in Lexington, OK, one of nine children born to Eugene Otis Yeary and Hattie Belle (Woods) Yeary. Roberta grew up in Purcell and graduated from Purcell High School in 1937. While in school she played basketball and tennis. During her junior year she won the State Tennis Championship in Doubles. After High School, Roberta married John Russell Mantooth. They made their home in Purcell and together raised five daughters, Betty, Rose, Sharon, Dorothy and Connie. Roberta worked tirelessly as a homemaker, caring and providing for her family. She was actively involved in all of her daughters’ school and sport activities. For nearly 25 years, she and Russell kept the time clock and official books for the Purcell High School Basketball games. She was a member and President of the Purcell P.T.A. and Band Booster Club. Roberta was an excellent seamstress and a gifted artist. She especially enjoyed painting in oil and water color and she was also an expert porcelain painter. She served as Secretary for the Oklahoma State Porcelain Artists and was a member of the Purcell Porcelain Artists and the Norman China Club. Roberta loved to travel the world and frequently joined Russell on many trips driving his work truck. In 1967, they opened the Mantooth Mobile Home Park in Purcell. During that time she also worked at Tinker AFB. She loved the Lord and was a faithful member of the Purcell Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by: Her husband, John Russell Mantooth Her parents, E. O. & Hattie Yeary 2 daughters, Betty Ozment and Sharon Anderson son-in-law, Jack Ozment A grandson, Terry Ozment 4 brothers, Darst, T. S., James and Garnett Yeary 4 sisters, Virgie Lane, Dorothy Reece, Imogene Reynolds and Inez Yeary

Roberta leaves behind: Her daughters all of Purcell: Rose McCurdy Dorothy Anderson and husband Lloyd Connie Wells and husband Dudley Son-in-law, Garland Anderson of Wayne 2 Sisters-in-law, Wanda Yeary of Purcell and Ruth Yeary of Noble 12 Grandchildren, 17 Great Grandchildren , many nieces, nephews and a host of other family and friends Funeral Services are scheduled for 10:00 A.M. Saturday, August 11, 2012, at the Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel in Purcell. Burial will follow at the Hillside Cemetery.
